Case study 2)

Being data capable

You are conducting a study where whole genome sequencing (WGS) is being offered to a cohort of patients with schizophrenia to identify genomic markers to inform the development of new interventions. Your research consortium spans six sites in the state.

Each genome sequenced will generate approximately a terabyte of data per genome and you will sequence up to three members of each family.

Question 1

Throughout this project, several sites will need access to the genomic data. How would you ensure that these researchers have access to the data?

Question 2

How will you make sure that participants' privacy is maintained while sharing data for analysis and enabling clinicians to return results after integrating the genomic and clinical data?
